Beyond Good (formerly Madécasse) makes its chocolate in madecasse picture of the Madagascar area, and therefore entirely in that African country. From bean to bar in Africa is the beautiful slogan.
Not only is the cocoa harvested there, but the processing of cocoa into a packed bar is also done entirely on site. The people of Madécasse, once started as development workers, find it very important to benefit the local population. They also carry the “fair for life” fair trade certificate.
They started (as Madécasse) in Madagascar, and will also set up a chocolate factory in Uganda. They already have cocoa chocolates from this country. That was also one of the reasons why they now continue under the name Beyond Good. Another important reason is that a lot of customers didn’t know how to pronounce Madécasse, and as a brand it’s best to avoid confusion.
Unfortunately, it will no longer be available from the European importer as of 2022. The organic certificate causes too much trouble for the brand & the importer.
