Description
Campesino means something like farmer or farmworker, but for this chocolate, it’s actually more like “from the countryside,” as we would say in the Netherlands. Not from the city, but from the land, from nature, where the cacao grows, of course.
The makers say, “Colombian hospitality stems from a rural home and a cheerful mother who offers you homemade hot chocolate with the aroma of cloves and cinnamon, complemented by a hint of caramel and wood; this is the traditional, almost ceremonial taste of Campesino by Cacao Hunters.”
A dark chocolate (64%) with added spices (cinnamon, cloves). Made from Colombian cacao and also made into cacao in Colombia by Cacao Hunters. A beautiful combination of delicate warming flavors, and a real spiciness that’s right there in the bar. We think it’s a beautiful creation! Not as subtle as the lemongrass bar from the same makers, the cloves are also present—so much so that if you close your eyes (and use a little imagination) you can imagine yourself in the Colombian countryside, sipping a freshly made hot chocolate. Another factor affecting the flavor is the sugar used: panela—often used in South American cuisine, and with a characteristic, complex, caramel flavor.
Ingredients: cacao beans, panela brown sugar, cocoa butter, cinnamon, cloves.
Contents: 56 grams. Allergy note from the makers: May contain traces of milk.
