Description
A beautiful set that gives you a wonderful introduction to chocolate of all origins—in this case, milk chocolates and dark chocolates. And the best part (besides the high-quality cocoa from various origins)… Casa Cacao uses not only cow’s milk, but also sheep’s milk and goat’s milk. So there’s so much to discover: the origins of the cocoa, but also the influence of the different milks!
This collection of 6 chocolates (480 grams) is made by Casa Cacao, the bean-to-bar chocolate factory belonging to El Celler de Can Roca, a world-famous (3-star) restaurant. Jordi Roca was already responsible for the desserts there, and thus (naturally) developed a love for chocolate. Naturally, that love also leads to the source: the cocoa, and the incredible diversity of flavors found in cocoa. He traveled to cocoa plantations, primarily in South America, to taste the cocoa and experience the cocoa plantations. The people who care for that beautiful tree, harvest, ferment, and dry the fruit. This led to a book (also called Casa Cacao), but ultimately also to the plan to buy the cacao ourselves and make chocolate (bean to bar, as it’s called)—the path all those wonderful craft chocolate makers on our site follow. Then, of course, we experimented with roasting, grinding, and which cacao gets which profile. What works, what doesn’t. Because this is a world-class restaurant, and people with a real drive are doing it right. The chocolate factory is accessible. A kind of chocolate café, where you can taste everything, but also see how the chocolate is made. And then, on the upper floors, it’s also a hotel. We haven’t been there yet, but it sounds like chocolate heaven to us. Get out of bed, enjoy a fresh chocolate croissant with a good cup of coffee. And then relax with something delicious in the chocolate café, watching behind the glass how the cacao turns into chocolate.
A set of 3 single-origin milk chocolates and 3 dark chocolates, beautifully gift-wrapped.
We also have several individual chocolates available, but the single-origin set is especially appealing. You’ll receive a beautiful package (modeled after Casa Cacao, the building where the chocolate is made) with six chocolates (480 grams), each made from different origins. This way, you can truly taste the differences. It’s wonderful to see that Casa Cacao also uses different types of milk—from cow’s milk to goat’s milk to sheep’s milk—and in the dark varieties, you can truly taste the different origins.
It’s always a fun thing to do when you order from us—ordering different cocoa origins from the same producer—especially for a tasting, at home or with others. And now, there’s also a lovely set for lovers of milk and dark chocolate.
In this set:
Ebier Suth Indonesia 48% (Cow’s Milk)
Los Bejucos, Dominican Republic 50% (Sheep’s Milk)
Hacienda Victoria, Ecuador 55% (Goat’s Milk)
Norandino, Peru, 70% (Pure)
Finca La Rioja, Mexico 75% (Pure)
Dang Van Nou, Vietnam 88% (Pure)
This way, you can compare more than just the individual origins and types of milk. Endless possibilities for a few evenings of extensive, attentive, and enjoyable tasting!
As chocolate sellers, we already have a wonderful (we think so, and thankfully, our customers do too) selection of chocolates—quite extensive, we might even say. You can also make some wonderful selections from it, which we’ll select for you in a surprise package. Or you can simply choose something yourself. It can be just as delicious—we only sell chocolates we’re proud of. But then, of course, it’s not chocolate made by chocolate makers at a three-Michelin-starred restaurant. Is it better then? Of course not necessarily, but we do think it’s wonderful that people like Jordi Roca are so involved with chocolate and cocoa. For those who want to know more about him, there’s a great introduction to him on Netflix in an episode of ‘Chef’s Table’. It’s a beautiful set, and we can safely say you’ll have a lot of fun tasting it.
Would you rather have us pick out something specific for you? No problem, just send us an email. At almost ten euros per chocolate, it’s still quite expensive, but if you know what you’d pay for dinner at El Celler, it’s not too bad. And besides… good chocolate costs more, but above all, it tastes much better.
And with this set, you also have a wonderful gift: chocolates with a story, chocolates that (hopefully) pique your curiosity, and can be a wonderful first immersion in the fascinating world of cocoa. Before you know it, you’ll think—like we did with the chocolates above… oh, a Piura chocolate… I wonder to what extent the lemon flavor will come through in that… Hey, an Ecuadorian chocolate, will it be floral or not? And so it’s often not just about tasting, it’s about savoring.
