Description
A very nice gift set, if we may say so ourselves.
Why? Because this set brings together six different dark single-origin chocolates from Marou.
As many visitors already know, Marou produces its chocolates in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, working directly with Vietnamese cacao farmers across the country’s various cacao regions. What makes this set particularly interesting is that you can clearly taste how origin influences flavour. The chocolate from the Bà Rịa region, for example, has a bright fruity profile, while the Đồng Nai bar is darker and more robust—an excellent match with certain dark beers or whisky.
Each of the six chocolates therefore has its own distinctive character. At the same time, you can still recognise a shared thread between them: the style of the chocolate makers and the way they transform cacao into chocolate—how the beans are roasted in the oven and how the chocolate is refined and conched.
In short, it’s a beautiful set for dedicated chocolate lovers, but also for people who are just starting to explore craft chocolate.
In our view, Marou chocolates tend to have a fairly bold flavour profile. For that reason, it might not be the first choice for someone who mainly loves milk chocolate. But if you’re curious about dark chocolate—and perhaps wondering whether the origin of cacao really makes a difference—this can be a wonderful introduction to the world of craft chocolate.
It also makes a lovely seasonal gift. Not only because the contents offer a ready-made chocolate tasting, but also thanks to the festive packaging wishing you Happy Holidays & Bonne Année.
