A dark chocolate with natural orange oil, made with cocoa from Colombia – Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta

Of course, as always with Chocolatemakers, the chocolate is made from fair-trade, organic cocoa, in this case from Colombia. With support for the women and cocoa farms of the Arhuacos people.

Also nice to know: The orange oil is made from the peel of organic oranges. The people at Dik & Schil collect orange peels from the hospitality industry and make the oil from them. This way, a byproduct gets a beautiful (and very tasty) second life in this chocolate bar.

When we started as Chocolate Sellers in 2014 and cycled to Amsterdam to pick up chocolate, it was already quite an experience to see the former chocolate factory. Now, several years later, we’ve greeted the sailing ship Tres Hombres several times. Now that Chocolatemakers has outgrown its previous location and a new chocolate factory has been built, it’s wonderful to reflect on all the wonderful things happening in the Amsterdam harbor. Not only does the Tres Hombres sail the world to bring cocoa to Amsterdam powered by wind, but also the cyclists of the Schokofahrt (Chocolate Fair) who deliver chocolates as far as Germany by bike, and the factory itself with a roof made entirely of transparent solar panels. And so on and so forth. Add to that the taste, and we can definitely tick the “very satisfied” box – this Christmas bar has definitely been approved – we’ve already opened our second bar at the time of writing.

Ingredients: cocoa mass, cane sugar, cocoa butter, sunflower lecithin, orange oil (0.2%). At least 65% cocoa.
