Description
Naturally! The Portuguese chocolate makers of Feitoria do Cacao use the Pastel de Nata as inspiration for this fine chocolate. The well-known delicacy, with puff pastry and a filling of cream and vanilla sugar.
For this chocolate they use milk, puff pastry, but also cinnamon and a little lemon oil. The puff pastry is in small pieces for a nice crunch. It is not exactly a Pastel de Nata, but it does give a nice interpretation!
The makers say: “Pastel de Nata” is one of the most popular Portuguese sweets in the world. In Portugal you can find this delicious cake in every café, but its origins go back to the Pasteis de Belém factory. It was founded in 1837, where it inherited the ancestral recipe of the Jerónimos Monastery at the time, and even today the original recipe remains secret.
The crispy puff pastry, the creamy egg custard with a subtle hint of lemon, and on top of the burnt cream, always a pinch of cinnamon to add a typical taste… Our Nicaragua 57% milk chocolate manages to perfectly harmonize and integrate these elements, adding an irresistible combination with cocoa.
We managed to realize this chocolate thanks to another happy collaboration with Padaria artesanal AZEDA, who created one of the most important elements of this recipe: the artisanal puff pastry.”
