Description
Dark chocolate made from cocoa from India (72%) and added mandarin (essential oil) and cayenne pepper. A beautiful experience where you can first taste the cocoa together with the mandarin and then slowly but surely the pepper comes through, stimulating you for a while. And then the peppery spiciness slowly decreases again and all three flavors remain, slightly the pepper, also the mandarin and certainly also the cocoa. Nice taste experience, in our opinion.
The makers say about it:
“One of the most important roles of Portuguese navigators during the time of discovery was undoubtedly the sensational globalization of gastronomic culture.
In the 15th century, the chili pepper that Christopher Columbus brought from Latin America was spread by the Portuguese in Europe and beyond. According to one of the historical theories, the Portuguese took this herb to India, via Macau, also to China and even Japan. The Portuguese introduced sweet oranges from China to Europe in the 16th century. The mandarin was later imported to Europe by the English in the 19th century, after which the Portuguese distributed this fruit to Brazil.
Mandarin and Cayenne pepper. To incorporate these exotic ingredients, we chose Dark Chocolate India 72%, with a ripe citrus note and a structured body. Besides giving the perfect profile to the recipe, the origin of this cocoa lies in the region of Kerala, which used to be part of the Portuguese state of India.
It is a chocolate that honors Portuguese history, and the countries and regions that generously exchanged their relics, which continue to enrich our table even today.”
