Description
Hoera! A pure single origin chocolate from Fjåk. Made from cocoa from Uganda, and we have already tasted more beautiful examples of that, for example from Solstice.
The cocoa comes from Latitude, they export the fine cocoa grown in Uganda, the chocolate makers say:
“Our cocoa beans come from the Semuliki Forest. Semuliki National Park is located in the Bundibugyo region of remote Western Uganda and is home to some of Africa’s most diverse flora and fauna. Semuliki Forest cocoa is grown by 1002 small organic farmers in the region, of which 52% are women Latitude Trade Co. (LTC), the company that processes and exports this cocoa, has organized 6 national collection points for farmers, where they sell fresh cocoa to the network weekly and receive cash at the point of sale. LTC’s centralized fermentation facility and warehouse are located in the village of Bumate, at the foot of the hills leading to the mountains. 100% organic”
Taste description from the makers: balanced chocolate with notes of caramel and nuts.
We think that description falls short of the chocolate – unless you take it in such a way that balanced contains a whole series of taste tones that are nicely balanced. Because there really is a lot more to taste, from a slightly fruity taste that emerges to flavors that go to light grassy and then the taste continues towards a sweet experience with a creaminess (whipped cream) with fruity notes (raisin?) and then still in the direction of mocha/coffee. We just write that down during the tasting, we sit down for a while, but there is really a lot to taste in it, as far as we are concerned. Just sit down, let the piece melt, and go on a journey of discovery.
Ingredients: cocoa butter, cane sugar, cocoa butter.
