“A special bar to celebrate Chocoladeverkopers’ decade of excellence in curating and sharing the beauty of craft chocolate.

The inspiration for this bar came from founders Paul & Emma’s love for the rich and warm aroma of garlic. Just as fermentation is key to the unique flavours of fine cocoa, slow caramelisation of garlic mellows the pungent allium, transforming it into a versatile ingredient that adds depth to the chocolate.

In thie bar, floral and nutty cacao from Ecuadorian Hacienda Limon estate is used to complement the powerful black garlic, making this a comforting chocolate to savor”

Because indeed, this bar was made especially for our 10th anniversary. And by Fossa, the great chocolate makers from Singapore.

Even now that we are typing this here, we still can’t quite believe it… For us, there is no other chocolate maker who knows how to create such creative and unique chocolates with added flavors, and we have been selling their chocolates with so much pleasure for years. Every time, taste works of art. When we approached them at the beginning of 2023 that an anniversary was coming up and they responded very enthusiastically, we were immediately very enthusiastic. And of course we quickly decided that we would really like a chocolate with a nice added flavor, one that we ourselves would be enthusiastic about. We emailed back and forth, samples were made that we could taste and provide feedback on. And so a chocolate came about, specially made for us. That eventually even became two bars, how crazy can it go, and this is one of them.

With the chocolates that Fossa made with and for us, we want to celebrate the adventure. The adventure that started for us 10 years ago as Chocolate Sellers, and is still a fantastic journey. But also the adventure of our bike trips and the flavors that we discover. And also the flavours that we are slowly getting to know in our kitchen, in the case of garlic certainly also thanks to Ottolenghi’s wonderful garlic cake that we enjoy making (not with cloves but whole bulbs of garlic). We hope that you will join us on our adventure, and open yourself up to a beautiful, rich, powerful taste experience.

A pure chocolate with black garlic.

Created by Fossa after our consultation about beautiful inspirations, after which we were given various samples to taste that were made in different ways (different types of cocoa), all special in their own way but this variant immediately became our top favourite.

The beautiful cocoa from Hacienda Limon (with nutty and floral notes) goes wonderfully well with the black garlic in our eyes, creating a very exciting, and in our eyes beautiful (and powerful) harmony. And as is right for a bar with black garlic in its name: it really has to taste like black garlic. But for those who don’t eat black garlic too often, it’s good to remember that it’s very different from garlic itself, it doesn’t have the sharpness and is so much sweeter and warmer in taste.

And as you can see from the list of ingredients, you really don’t need dozens of ingredients for a wonderfully pronounced taste experience. Cocoa, cane sugar and black garlic. In this case, that’s all that makes this wonderful taste journey possible.

Flavour notes: warm flavour notes, sweet and savoury with notes of balsamic vinegar.
