Fossa – Hokkaido Pumpkin Pie

Fossa often creates chocolate bars inspired by traditional desserts. This time, they’ve chosen the well-known Pumpkin Pie! It is one of the most iconic autumn and holiday desserts in North America, especially popular around Thanksgiving and Halloween. Pumpkin pie is loved for its creamy pumpkin filling and warm spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and clove.

Traditional pumpkin pie is often made with sweet winter squash. In this chocolate interpretation by Fossa, Japanese Hokkaido pumpkin is used instead, giving the bar a nuttier and fuller flavour profile. Of course, the familiar autumn spices — cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and ginger — are all present, along with biscuit crumbles that add a pleasant texture.

We think the flavour is very well balanced, with a lovely harmony of sweet, creamy, and spicy notes. The pumpkin flavour and especially the clove stand out beautifully, instantly evoking the feeling of a nostalgic, cozy autumn evening. Every piece leaves you wanting more!
