The chocolate makers at Fruition already have a beautiful range of bars, especially in the category of dark milk chocolate, chocolates that contain milk but with a cocoa percentage closer to dark chocolate.
From time to time, they also release a special limited edition in collaboration with the people from Big Gay Hudson Valley, an organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ rights in their community.
Like the previous version, which we sold with great pleasure, this has once again turned into quite a spectacular chocolate bar.
It is a dark milk chocolate with 62% cocoa, something you don’t often see, such a high cocoa percentage in a milk chocolate.
And to make things even more festive, it’s infused with lavender and citrus in the form of essential oils, of course suitable for consumption.
A truly intriguing combination. Some will love it, others less so. We personally find the mix of citrus and floral notes very enjoyable and well suited to this bar. That said, balance is always key, and whether it leans too “soapy” is subjective. We certainly don’t think so, but some people are simply more sensitive to lavender than others.
Add to that the wonderfully creamy texture Fruition is known for, the richness of a dark milk chocolate with a small amount of whole milk powder combined with a generous 62% high quality cocoa, and it becomes a bar that’s definitely worth trying at least once. Still, as mentioned, it won’t appeal to everyone, perhaps more suited to adventurous chocolate tasters, or fans of lavender, citrus, or dark milk chocolate. Of course, you might also pick it up for its cheerful packaging filled with hearts, the eye catching mirrored “Gay Bar” print, more hearts with rainbows, and phrases like “diversity is delicious” and “inclusive world blend.” And if you’re going to make a “Gay Bar,” it’s only fitting to do so in collaboration with a local organization advocating for gay rights, including financial support. But even without the packaging, name, and mission, it remains a very exciting and flavorful bar.
As for the cocoa, it’s a blend, but with clear origin labeling: Uganda (Semuliki), Nicaragua (Chuno), and Mexico (Tabasco & Almendra Blanca).
Ingredients: cocoa, cane sugar, whole milk powder, cocoa butter, lavender and citrus essential oils.
Contents: 60 grams. Store in a cool, dry place.
