Important to know: Two very small bars of 13 grams. But you can forget that, it’s about the amazing taste, the project of old temple doors that is supported, and the symbolism.

Description

A beautiful set from the makers of Fu Wan from Taiwan. From a project that restores temple doors and thus ensures the preservation of the door gods, the gods that are depicted on the temple doors (and entrances in general) to keep the evil spirits out.

With inspiration from the spring mood, and with it also on eternal peace and great happiness.

Two chocolates, small bars of 13 grams, we say very specifically – small. But with a lot of taste.

A white chocolate for “all the best” to which orange, hibiscus almond and mint have been added. White chocolate of a kind, but with a beautiful purple color.
A dark chocolate for “well being” with almond, pieces of apple, bamboo charcoal and cinnamon.
We simply present the makers’ explanation in full: “- Key Vision: The Elegant Goddess of Spring Equinox

– Artwork: The door god from the Ma Kong Temple at Fu Cheng in Tainan

– Artist: Temple mural master, Pan Li-Shui
Year: 1970

It is the very first restored work of SDGP, completed in 2022.

We hope to bring blessings and joy to the world with the power of the goddess.

” Well Being ” Symbolizing peace and tranquility, the Apple-Infused 70% Pingtung Dark Chocolate is combined with edible bamboo charcoal powder and cinnamon, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the bustling temple incense. Sweet apricot kernel undertones add a touch of wooden sophistication inspired by temple architecture.

” All THE BEST ” Combining roselle with red yeast rice and white chocolate creates a festive and understated red color. Orange, symbolizing prosperity in Taiwanese culture, adorn the chocolate, while a hint of mint brings out a refreshing touch reminiscent of a reborn and revitalized temple after restoration.

In era characterized by a longing to discover one’s place and self-value, we aspire to preserve the precious art’s faint glow through restoration techniques. This allows the cultural treasures of our country to shine once again, allowing everyone to witness the beauty. ”
– Tsai Shun-Jen (also known as Leo Tsai), Founder /Restorer of TSJ Art Restoration

Taiwan’s temple murals, akin to Europe’s cathedrals, hold precious cultural significance. Recognizing a decline, Leo and entrepreneurs launched the “Saving Door Gods Program (SDGP)” to preserve Taiwan’s unique artistic heritage. Warren was deeply moved by what they are doing, deciding to wholeheartedly offer his support. As a result, a uniquely Taiwanese-themed Spring Equinox gift box emerged.

Spring Equinox –
The Lunisolar Year is divided into 24 periods of time; it’s called “solar terms” in Mandarin culture. The names of the 24 solar terms reflect the changes in seasons and climate. Spring Equinox marks the start of planting. The significance spans agriculture, culture, and religion.”

Ingredients:

cocoa mass, sugar, cocoa butter, almond, apple pieces (apple, palm oil, maltose), bamboo charcoal powder, cinnamon powder.
White chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, elk powder, soy lecithin, vanilla extract), dried orange peel (orange, sugar, salt), almond, cocoa butter, red yeast rice powder, hibiscus powder, dried mint leaves.
Allergy note: may contain traces of nuts. Total content 26 grams.

In a fairly large box, and a card on which the temple door is beautifully depicted. For this project we thought it would be nice to be able to offer this chocolate – also because we received positive reactions about it (despite the minimal size of the chocolates).

We knew that it was about small bars, and in a box, but when we received it and opened it, we were happy with the taste and execution, but the box and packaging material is still well, a lot in relation to the chocolate. Of course that is more often, also if you go to your local chocolatier to get a box of chocolates (don’t do that of course, buy something from Booja Booja or just a nice good chocolate bar, or make sure you go to a chocolatier that works with real fair trade chocolate instead of Callebaut – also fine of course) but still, we think it is important that a little less plastic etc. is used. But oh well, that’s the way it is sometimes. It doesn’t quite fit in with what we find important – but the beautiful flavors remain, and discovering a bit of other cultures through chocolate. Flavors and combinations that we often don’t know well, and use like the temple gods here, where we can then look up something about and learn something new – that is something very beautiful and that is something that we have more often at Fu Wan anyway. And hopefully this set will inspire everyone who buys it just as much, and of course it will provide the happiness and blessings for which it is intended.
