A milk chocolate, but with a high percentage of cocoa (61%). This way you can taste more of what chocolate is actually all about… the cocoa!

The taste is further rounded off with creamy (Dutch) cow’s milk and (Dutch) beet sugar.

In any case, a beautiful chocolate for milk chocolate fans who want something completely different, more cocoa, and different milk powder than usual in the supermarket. Fortunately, as is almost always the case with craft chocolate from the small makers, no mass product is made, but careful considerations are made for the ingredients. At Heinde & Verre, this not only concerns the single origin cocoa of a specific origin, but also the milk and sugar, in this case beet sugar.

Origin of the cocoa: Norandino, Peru.

“Norandino is an agricultural cooperative, focused on local Peruvian products such as coffee and cocoa. They strive to improve social, economic and environmental responsibility in all their products and processes. The production area includes the coast, the mountains and the jungle of northern Peru, in the departments of Piura, Tumbes, Amazonas, Cajamarca, Lambayeque and San Martín. The cocoa beans come from the villages of Palmas, Puerta Palache and Las Lomas in the San Lorenzo Valley. Part of the larger Piura Vally Peru. The terroir can be described as dry forest with only a few months of rain a year. The cocoa trees are fed with water from the Andes mountains. At Norandino, the farmers ferment the beans in wooden boxes for between 6 and 8 days. After fermentation, the beans are put in the sun dried and packaged to be shipped to the Netherlands.
