Marou – Roasted Buckwheat – Earth Day Chocolate

Specially made for ‘earth day’ by Marou, a day that is all about protecting our beautiful earth, and all the wonderful nature that we can find there.

Marou has really made something special for that. The most special is perhaps the packaging, which is made with cocoa shells. Together with the bark of the paper mulberry, the cocoa shells, which are often thrown away, are used for a beautiful shell with a lot of structure, and in our opinion very suitable for this bar.

Then we come to the chocolate itself. In terms of percentage, it is an accessible dark chocolate (55% cocoa) but has roasted buckwheat (10%) and some mung beans as additions. Finally, the sugar used is palm sugar.

Actually, we can speak of a vegan ‘milk chocolate’ since the buckwheat & mung beans also really take the place of milk. And very nice how Marou is very inventive with the choice of vegetable sources of protein for this bar. We had never tasted a chocolate with buckwheat, let alone with mung beans.

A beautiful tribute to Earth Day, and our beautiful Earth. And in terms of taste, it is also a really intriguing bar, where it is a mix of what we know from Marou and the taste of a classic milk chocolate. We are especially curious whether lovers of milk chocolate will appreciate this bar. But in any case, it is a nice gift for Earth Day or if you are looking for something for someone and really want to give something special that they have not yet tasted.

Ingredients: Cocoa nibs (40.8%), palm sugar (26%), cocoa butter, buckwheat seeds (10%), mung bean powder, salt.
