Meet Marou – bean to bar chocolate makers in Hô Chí Minh City (former Saïgon) in Vietnam.

In this package five (varying) cocoa chocolates from specific Vietnamese regions.

In 2011 Vincent Mourou and Samuel Maruta started their dream … to make chocolate in Vietnam, made entirely from cocoa from Vietnam.

They buy the cocoa directly from the cocoa farmers in the various regions and work in close and long-term cooperation. With a fair price, with responsibility for people and nature.

“Our approach to making chocolate is simple and transparent: we buy cacao from Vietnamese farmers; our most important partners. Next, we transform the cacao beans into chocolate bars at our factory; we do everything so that our team care about the product they ‘ re making as much as we care about them. We’re committed to ensuring that the whole cocoa-to-chocolate value chain is strong, socially responsible and environmentally sustainable ”

The pure taste richness of Vietnam
Marou mostly makes dark chocolates, all with specific cocoa from one region.

From Ba Ria to Lam Dong and from Tiên Giang to Ben Tre. Unless you’ve been there, maybe you don’t say much. But that’s the fun part. This way you will get to know the taste diversity of the regions, while at the same time being carefully introduced to a piece of Vietnam. Many people are encouraged after tasting to look up where it all lies, to take a look at Wikipedia with some facts.

The chocolates from the different regions are very different, from spicy to fruity, and in our opinion very nice to discover side by side. With these bars you actually have a ready-made chocolate tasting. A piece of chocolate, some water or bread with it, maybe print out a taste wheel (good on the internet) to help you recognize flavors and certainly nice to note what you taste and compare it with others. Don’t just think about flavors, chocolate can also evoke memories. Smell the chocolate, feel the chocolate, be aware of the mouthfeel, let the chocolate melt. Taste with attention, but also know: you can’t do it wrong.

In addition, they made a number of ‘origine +’ chocolates at Marou, bars with cocoa from certain regions and a certain addition (coconut, kumquat, coffee) from the same region. They can also be in your package, it is really a random selection.

We make a nice selection. Dark chocolates, there is one ‘milk chocolate’ made with coconut.

All bars are milk-free, nut-free, gluten-free. Also without traces. Therefore also very suitable for allergy sufferers or vegans.
