What Heinde & Verre is all about – also in the name – is the fusion of ingredients from far & close. Beautiful cocoa varieties together with Dutch milk & beet sugar for the milk chocolates. It is nice to see that their first bar with added flavor is a very appropriate one: an addition that is not only very Dutch, but also emphasizes the ‘far away’: a spice mix based on speculaas, indeed the biscuit that is so well known to us, but that The Netherlands, Belgium and a piece of Germany are little known. At least, unless it is known as a ‘famous Dutch delicacy’. And ofcourse, it is ofcourse in a similar tradition to ‘gingerbread’ and other cookies and special things for the festive season.
For the gingerbread spices, Heinde & Verre obviously did not just pick a random mix, but carefully made a selection that fits nicely with the cocoa (a blend of cocoa from Indonesia, the Dominican Republic and Peru) and the milk.

The makers further say: “The original Dutch chocolate tradition is known for the art of blending premium cocoa. Now enriched with the well-known Dutch Speculaas cookie flavor and milk. Simply adding a generic spice mix to chocolate does not provide a balanced taste palette. For this quintessential winter product, we went back to each of the individual spices in the classic gingerbread mix to discover its specific flavor role in the famous cookie.A new mix was found and the gingerbread spice recipe was redesigned for this chocolate. of the spices are nicely integrated by grinding them together with cocoa for 90 hours.”
How does that taste? Easy. Open the package and the scent will meet you. You will be intoxicated by the sweet spicy gingerbread scent. Take a bite and you immediately become addicted, to the smell and taste – very pleasant – and we would not be surprised if this mix has all kinds of positive properties for your mood, your mind, your relaxation – because we get a bite of this bar in any case, a wonderfully sluggish feeling, and all we can do is sink back on the couch, pull up the blanket again, and take another bite, and another, and another.

Nostalgisch ! Doet denken aan Sinterklaastijd, aan Holland, aan thuis, aan vroeger, aan de koekjestrommel en de geur van koekjes bakken. Erg smakelijke zachte chocolade en hele goeie combinatie met de speculaaskruiden ! Aanrader en favoriet !
