Very fine Hawaii island chocolate, Manoa has a nice series of these – chocolates made in Hawaii but also with specific cocoa from a specific area and even specifically one cocoa plantation. In this case the Honoli’i Orchards. Just like the other chocolates from the Hawaii series of Manoa very worthwhile, and of course also fun to order a few together to have a specific chocolate tasting with Hawaii as a theme – and to be able to be wonderfully amazed and amazed about the differences (and similarities) between the bars. As far as we are concerned, the Manoa chocolates are recognizable as such, then we are also talking about the (fine) structure, but also in how the taste comes forward. But with that, and that is of course also thanks to the quality, there is a lot to discover in different flavor tones of the different cocoa farms. So you also notice (if you didn’t know that yet) that there is no such thing as one flavor per cocoa country. You can’t really say ‘cacao from Hawaii tastes like this’ (and Peru like this, and Ghana like this) – although there are some general principles (to which there are also exceptions). Anyway, we won’t make it too difficult and extensive. Just know that this is also a very nice bar to taste and discover and who already knows our webshop (there is a big chance if you are reading this, we are grateful for how many regular customers we have – thank you – new customers are also very welcome to start with this bar by the way – and if you prefer advice – just send an email)

Uh yes, this bar. The makers say about it: “Honoli‘i Orchards is a multi-generational family farm located on the windward slopes of Mauna Kea, Hawai‘i Island’s tallest volcano. This region is defined by abundant rain-fall, deep volcanic soil, and a dynamic terrain shaped by the Honoli‘i Stream. Farm manager, Colin Hart, is an agricultural specialist with a master’s degree in cacao from the University of Hawai‘i. Since 2019, Mānoa Chocolate has collaborated with Colin to establish both a thriving farm and center for cacao research and education within the state.”

And always nice, Manoa also gives pairing suggestions. In this case a cabernet sauvignon as wine, a brown ale as beer and spirits: scotch.
