Description
For Christmas, the (wonderful) Canadian chocolate makers at Qantu always like to make something special. They’ve already done this with their HOHOHO chocolate—made with black walnut and cranberry—but it seems like they add something different every year.
And this year it’s… the ‘Vacances de Noël,’ or Christmas holiday chocolate. And it’s not just with some standard Christmas flavors or speculoos spices or anything like that—quite the opposite.
Very different, we might add. They add, “Can you feel a tropical breeze? Picture yourself in the jungle, with a fresh banana, and a rich caramel sauce. Cheers to the holidays, and to sweet treats!”
This chocolate is actually a banana & toffee chocolate. White chocolate (made from cocoa from Piura, Peru) with a beautiful caramel and banana pattern. That’s all it takes to make it something truly special. Thanks to the caramelization and the banana, it’s a white chocolate in style (because it’s only cocoa butter), but certainly not in color. There’s a pattern in which the caramel and banana determine the shape and color—beautiful to look at, and the aromas greet you as soon as you open the bar.
And celebrating Christmas with a banana, in the jungle, yes, when Qantu suggests it…we suddenly think it’s not a bad idea at all. And we can certainly enjoy this sweet treat ourselves, with our eyes closed—but we think it’s also definitely nice to save for the Christmas holidays, or afterward. Qantu chocolates aren’t cheap, of course, and they’re not bars to be eaten straight up, but to be discovered—and not for nothing, they’ve won numerous awards; for example, in 2025 Award-winning for their stunning chocolate IPA.
