A very special and totally awesome project by Caputo’s, a great distributor of bean to bar chocolates (and more goodies) in the United States.
They have found a partnership with two fantastic chocolate makers – Ritual from Utah (USA) and Luisa Abram from Brazil and have created a set of two chocolates that put wild cacao in the spotlight. Where cacao naturally grows on plantations, small or large, where cacao farmers have planted them, that is not always the case. There is also cacao that grows in nature.
In Bolivia, this is certainly also the Beniano (Beni) cacao that grows in the Bolivian rainforests, and in Brazil, wild-picked cacao from the Brazilian Amazon.
Beautiful, especially when you consider that the set (the proceeds) are used to protect the rainforest.
A book has also been published – Wild Cacao – that tells the story of this wild cacao. You can order it from the big companies, or via your local bookstore. Well worth it. And of course it is also wonderful to read this (or to look up more about it online) while enjoying this set and the two beautiful chocolates made from wild cocoa.
The set is a beautiful box made entirely of paper but really beautifully made and the bars themselves are also made entirely of cardboard but so incredibly beautifully done that it is worth it even without the chocolate in it.
Fortunately, that is still the best part, discovering the two bars that these top chocolate makers have made from it. We already sell more beautiful things from Ritual chocolate, if we can get them of course. Not from Luisa Abram (yet) but we can also say that we have tasted very exciting beautiful chocolates, and were happy that she was chosen for this project with the Brazilian cocoa – since she also makes the cocoa entirely in Brazil and already works with very special cocoa that is specific to the region.
Contains the Wild Juruá chocolate (70% pure) from Brazil and Wild Tranquilidad from Bolivia (75% pure). They are two chocolates of 60 grams.
