Description
A delightful, pure, original chocolate made from cocoa from São Tomé, an island off the coast of West Africa.
The makers say: Portuguese colonists brought Amolenado cocoa from the Amazon to the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe in the 1850s. Since then, a distinctive, instantly recognizable flavor profile has developed thanks to the archipelago’s unique soil and climate. Several farming families from Roca de Santo Antonio in the Abade Valley collaborated to build a facility for fermenting, drying, and education—dedicated to high-quality cocoa in São Tomé. Through careful roasting and further processing, we created a richly aromatic bar.
Note: The image still shows the old version; the bar is now called “Pico Caocao” as a tribute to “Great Dog Peak”—a large, iconic volcanic rock formation on São Tomé.
Tasting notes from the makers: Rich aromas with notes of peach and jasmine.
Ingredients: cocoa beans, cane sugar, cocoa butter.
Allergy note from the maker: May contain traces of milk and nuts.
