Description
Inspired by the natural beauty of the rainforests of British Colombia (Canada) – where Sirene makes the chocolates in the capital (Victoria). The sea and the forest come together, in cocoa from Tanzania (Kokoa Kamili).
With morel, seaweed and local berries as an addition, the maker Taylor Kennedy has beautifully used the environment and nature as inspiration. And now that we’ve tasted this chocolate, and looked up what it looks like in British Colombia (phenomenal in the pictures, beautiful coastline, mountains, etc) we also understand more the packaging with all their sea creatures, the place where the chocolate is made (Victoria) is in a point completely surrounded by sea – it was not the association we had with Canada (we knew Taylor made chocolate in Canada) but now it was an ‘aha’ moment. So.
The taste: When we think of Coastal Rainforest chocolate with the additions of morel (mushroom), kelp (seaweed) and currant (berry), we quickly think of very intense flavors, but that is not so bad. A beautiful chocolate that matches Sirene’s packaging – all of which are inspired by the sea.
Description of the maker: “The rainforest on the coast of British Colombia is a rich ecosystem where the forest and the ocean often interact and create an abundance of food. The currants, morels and kelp found in this bar are just a small list of the foods it contains. Fruity notes from the currants are delivered on the smoothness of the kelp, all covered by a rich umami from the morels. The fantastic beans from Kokoa Kamili, Tanzania make up the base chocolate.”
