Who does not know the orange bar of Tony’s Chocolonely – milk chocolate with caramel and sea salt. A true classic with lots of fans, and salted caramel has also been a big hype – it was suddenly everywhere. The hype is happily gone, the combination with milk chocolate remains, and well executed it is delicious.
And then this bar. That is not just milk chocolate with salted caramel – no this is the vegan version made with coconut milk and with a lot of cocoa. 60% cocoa is in this bar while milk chocolate from the supermarket usually has only 20-30% cocoa.
Made with Fortunato # 4 cocoa, from the Marañon valley in Peru. Obtaining through direct trading. Craft chocolate from Solkiki – two micro-batch chocolate makers from the UK – who make delicious chocolates and work 100% vegetable.
With the 60% cocoa there is coconut milk to make it into a vegan milk chocolate – but the taste is not predominant but in our opinion nicely balanced.
A special example of how things can be done differently. Milk chocolate can best contain more cocoa and less sugar proves this bar. For lovers of super sweet it may take some getting used to, but we are sure that this bar will surprise many people positively. And secondly, that you can make delicious milk chocolate without animal products. Beautiful right?
Add to that the fact that it is fair cocoa through direct trade obtained with a much higher price for the cocoa farmer than with bulk cocoa from the large companies, that Bob & Iris made the bar small and with lots of love, then we find the slogan of Solkiki ‘ Making chocolate better ‘already very appropriate.
