You should know in advance that Soma is one of our favorite chocolate makers. And they make something beautiful and delicious every time, including in this case.
A fine milk chocolate with licorice, caramel and salt, but in a very refined, creamy and special version. With a little bit of cocoa but above all a lot of cocoa butter & milk and caramel – a kind of extremely creamy caramel milk chocolate. And then of course the licorice root to complete the party – not just any random licorice root.
Made with sweetness from Calabria in southern Italy, a protected origin (D.O.P.)
The makers say: “The licorice in this bar grows wild on the sun-drenched hills of Calabria. The mineral-rich clay soil makes the licorice roots naturally sweet and aromatic. It is considered the purest in the world, labeled D.O.P. to emphasize the special character of this region.
The licorice is infused into a creamy dreamy chocolate laced with caramel and Newfoundland sea salt. Chocolate and licorice blend in a very beautiful way, intense enough to please the hardcore licorice lovers wonderfully more, bringing licorice naysayers to the dark side.”
