Hooray! A very special bar. Soma chocolates are always special, but this chocolate is special to Soma too. Not just because of the flavors, but also because of the friendship between the Soma people and the founders of Marou, Samuel & Vincent, and now, sadly, the memory of the untimely demise of Samuel Maruta.
The cocoa comes from Marou, who works directly with the cocoa farmers—in this case, in the Tien Giang region of Vietnam. Marou (as you probably know) also makes their own chocolate with this cocoa. See Marou’s version here. Or, while you’re there, order a nice package with various Marou chocolates.
Back to this chocolate. Because when we hear that Soma itself is crazy about a bar, for emotional reasons but also because of the taste, we prick up our ears. And of course, we tasted it soon after it arrived, and it was delicious—this bar was devoured quickly, we can say, very quickly.
Beautifully sweet and fruity, pleasantly slightly spicy, creamy. While the bar Marou makes with this cocoa is also quite strong, and perhaps a bit too much licorice flavor in the drops, this one remains more subtle and harmonious, which only makes this bar more dangerous. Quality chocolate to devour quickly. Guilt-free, because oh my.
