Description
We’re happy to raise money for affected cocoa farmers together with our customers. In Jamaica, a hurricane destroyed many cocoa farms at the end of October, and in Sumatra, massive flooding has also affected many cocoa farmers.
La Galigo is raising money for emergency relief, food, drinks, shelter, and medicine in Sumatra, and Pure Chocolate is raising money to help cocoa farmers in Jamaica repair the damage and rebuild their farms.
We’re giving away chocolates as a thank you – see our overview page for more information. But perhaps you’d prefer to donate a little extra with your order without receiving a chocolate. That’s also possible, of course. So, you can choose that option.
How can you help? By donating. Here’s how it works:
You place your order as usual.
You choose how much you want to donate and add the donation to your order.
You checkout as usual – you don’t pay the donation yet – you only pay the rest of your order and shipping costs.
We’ll send you a link to transfer your donation within a few days. We collect the donations and transfer them in full to La Galigo & Pure Chocolate to help the cocoa farmers.
This way, we collect the donations and transfer them all at once on your behalf.
If you would like a chocolate thank you from us for your donation, please visit the overview page and select your donation and thank you note. (While supplies last, they’re gone.)
Prefer to donate directly?
Even if you don’t want to order, you can still donate. Or perhaps you’d prefer to donate directly. That’s certainly possible.
You can donate to Pure Chocolate via this link to support the cocoa farmers affected by Hurricane Melissa.
You can donate to La Galigo Foundation for emergency relief in Sumatra, Indonesia via this link.
Donations via these links go directly to us, not through us. Therefore, we don’t see them and can’t add your donation to our total donations. But that’s not really important; we appreciate it immensely. Please let everyone contribute in their own way, in a way that suits them. And even if you don’t have the time – that’s fine, don’t feel obligated.
Together, we can make a real difference with many small donations. We know this from previous campaigns, where we were able to help Mr. Cong, whose cocoa plantation had been flooded, with hundreds of cocoa seedlings (young cocoa trees), or during the Covid period, we raised money for protective equipment for Peruvian farmers through Uncommon Cacao. It’s not about the huge sums, but about making a difference together.
