Zotter says about it: “A single-origin chocolate with 70% cocoa and a nutty malty character. Made by the La Campesina cooperative with Trinitario fine-flavor cocoa, which grows in and around the nature reserves of Cerro Musún and Cerro Quirraguas and is harvested by small farms. A beautiful, natural cocoa presented alongside a small amount of raw cane sugar.”
Aroma notes: dried fruit with hints of fermentation, nutty caramel flavour with touches of malt.
Taste notes: roasted nuts with a malt and caramel aroma and hints of cream, subtle fruity notes (jam-like dried fruits such as berries and raisins), nutty malt finish with fruity accents.
We can quite relate to the flavour notes from the makers; we also detect hints of coffee, especially in the creamy aspect. There is also a walnut-like flavour (slightly bitter) and perhaps even a touch of roasted coffee notes. A lightly drying effect, with the sugar slowly coming through at the end. An interesting tasting experience, in our view.
This bar replaces the “sail shipped Nicaragua” that Zotter previously had in its assortment. That one is no longer available—though there are still chocolates shipped by sailing boat from Belize. This chocolate comes from a different cocoa source, namely the La Campesina cooperative.

Erg lekker! Heel notig (echt bijzonder dat dat puur van de cacao is!). Deze lijkt mij echt perfect om brownies mee te maken, alleen was die van mij al op voordat ik dat kon proberen 😅

gewoon lekker nee gewoon heerlijk! minder “heftige” smaak dan de belize 72% dus zeker ook toegankelijk voor mensen die niet echt zo van puur houden of mensen die supermarktchocolade gewend zijn, niet bitter en best wel zoet, het is zo op zonder dat je het doorhebt
