Do we also have sugar-free milk chocolate? Well, now we do!
As you may know, milk itself naturally contains some sugar (lactose), so thanks to the milk there are still 8 grams of sugar in this bar—but not a single gram of added sugar. Compare that to regular milk chocolate, where sugar content often exceeds 50%, and you’ll realize… this really is quite something special.
We ourselves don’t necessarily object to having some sugar in chocolate—after all, chocolate is more about tasting than consuming in large quantities, so you shouldn’t be eating kilos of it anyway (with or without sugar), in our opinion. But still… there can be all sorts of reasons to want less sugar. For once, or more often.
There are plenty of fans of our range of 100% chocolates. Pure cocoa, nothing else. Yes, those are of course sugar-free too. But they are more for the “purists”—you really have to love cocoa. From experience, we do know two things about those bars: 1) They are remarkably diverse—intense in flavor, but certainly not always bitter. 2) You get used to it quickly; many people who switch to higher percentages never want anything else again.
But of course… many people prefer milk chocolate. Even then, there’s sometimes a desire for less sugar. Dark milk chocolates with cocoa percentages above 50% are a great option—but for those who want to go completely sugar-free, this bar is worth trying.
Worth it. With 80% cocoa, and otherwise only milk, it truly deserves to be called “Super Dark.”
Our verdict: We don’t think it’s bad at all.
That already says a lot, because there are plenty of sugar-free bars we would immediately throw in the trash. Not this one—although, to be fair, it’s also not the most complex flavor with all kinds of fruity notes or anything like that. No, it is what it is. It tastes good, has a rich, fatty mouthfeel—but for an 80% chocolate made only with milk… quite impressive.
By the way… good to know: once again organic and fair trade.

Dit was mijn tweede kennismaking met Zotters suikervrije chocolades. Ik vind het knap dat de reep toch best zacht van smaak is, met een lange maar helemaal niet bittere nasmaak. Mijn voorkeur gaat uit naar de 70% versie, maar dit is een goed alternatief, zeker als je goede chocola zonder (toegevoegde) suiker zoekt.
