Maple

In chocolate, “maple” usually refers to *maple syrup*, derived from the sap of the maple tree (mainly from Canada and parts of the USA). Maple adds a caramel-like sweetness and woody flavour notes. It can be used as a flavouring, but also as a filling or as a substitute for sugar!

Maple is most commonly paired with milk and white chocolate, but it can also work very well with dark chocolate.
